Dr. Francis Collins and BioLogos

One of the books that most inspired me to expand my science and religion studies was The Language of God by Dr. Francis S. Collins.  Dr. Collins was once an atheist whose genetic studies convinced him that there had to be a Creator behind the creation.  His search led him to Christianity.  He directed the Human Genome project and is presently the director of the National Institute of Health.

After the publication of his book, Dr. Collins established the BioLogos Foundation in 2007.  Apparently, many other people were as inspired by The Language of God and Dr. Collins could not keep up with the many questions and letters directed to him.  The BioLogos Foundation features essays on its website, provides speakers for conferences, and promotes Evolutionary Creationism (EC).  In their words, “We fully affirm that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative word of God. We also accept the science of evolution as the best description for how God brought about the diversity of life on earth.”

I have read much of what is on their website.  I agree with most all of it, the only disagreements being the small differences between Mormonism and mainstream Christianity.  I support the BioLogos approach and consider myself an LDS offshoot of its belief system.
